"Let's do something together…!

A not so miserable January

Off to a great start this year. A couple of interesting projects, notably the preparation for a corporate “tour” that will take in three venues, Singapore, Los Angeles and Munich in February. The end client wants to see a bit more that just 3D visuals and wanted to see if it would be possible to use virtual reality (VR). So a couple of days was spent up t’ north with some nice people at DBNAudile namely Nick Todd and Nick Walton who put together an excellent package using an Oculus/Steam VR headset connected to Cast WYSIWYG. It was a big learning curve but the guys at DBN delivered an excellent demonstration for the end user.

It was a real pleasure working with the two Nicks who provided great coffee to boot. These guys are pretty good with this kind of tech now and it’s well worth taking a look. Looking forward to the tour in February and seeing the results for real.

End of the month was not so much a miserable January after all as it was spent with a smashing bunch from Asets UK and Active AV for a tidy little event in Gatwick.

The first outing this year of my Vista by Chromaq desk.

February is a busy month with a number of corporate shows in America and Germany. Looking forward to that…

All the very best.

Happy New Year. Happy New decade…

Del Jones

Hi folks, Del Jones here, Happy New Year.

2019 was a great year, plenty of stuff happened and 2020 looks so far to be no exception which is great news.

First things first, thanks to all my friends and clients old and new for choosing DJLD for lighting their projects. There are some great folks out there and it’s a pleasure working with you all. Thanks…

So whats going on this year. It is already shaping up to be an exciting and varied year with two concert tours in the UK, Europe, and the US, with lots of corporate gigs already in the pipeline.

I made some new investments in 2019 which included the latest Vista by ChromaQ lighting desks and Vectorworks Spotlight 2020 for drawing. 2020 will be no exception. March will see the anual update release of Capture the amazing visualisation software for lighting. On the kit shopping list I will be looking at a Grand MA PC set up. I like the modular lighting desks that Vista and the GrandMAPC provide. I like getting the minimum amount of kit required to do the job into a nice simple Peli style case that I can chuck on a flight or the back of a car. I’ve been doing it this way with my Vista kit for years now with great success so I hope to repeat it with the excellent GrandMAPC.

So cheers and good luck to you all and my best wishes for a great 2020 and I look forward to seeing some of my regulars as well as making some new friends along the way.

Best wishes all
